Blak Power Comix is calling for artists to be part of a powerful new First Nations comic movement—launching at Barunga Festival. Whether you’re an emerging talent or an established artist, this is your chance to be seen, be published, and be part of a growing First Nations storytelling movement.

SELECTED ARTISTS WILL RECEIVE:

• A share in a $1,000 Prize Pool.
• Publication of your artwork in Blak Power Comix Issue #2.
• A spot to have your art exhibited at the Barunga Festival Pop-Up Exhibition.

Applications close Friday the 29th of May 2026.

ENTRY IS STRICTLY OPEN TO:

• Youth (Under 18): For young emerging artists ready to share their creativity.
• Open (18+): For emerging and established artists.
• Artists submitting original artwork and illustration inspired by comics, manga, and anime.
• All styles and skill levels are welcome and encouraged.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUBMIT:

• Your Artist Name, Date of Birth, and Contact Info (Email and Phone).
• Confirmation of whether you are Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander, along with your Country/ Language Group.
• The Title of your artwork and an upload of your file.
• A short description of the piece and what your inspiration was for making it.
• Your social media account handles so we can see more of your art or writing.
